Is English a vital subject or is it just a supplementary subject?

Is English a vital subject or is it just a supplementary subject?What is your opinion?This had been a hot issue since Mathematics and Science are taught in English.Some people say that English is a vital subject but some of the people claim that English is just a supplementary subject.In my point of view,English is just supplementary subject.
People might say that English is an international language and it is very useful in our life as it is the medium of communication.This might be true if we go to western countries.Why am i saying so?Of course I have my point to say like this.For example,when you go to buy a nasi lemak,do you speak in English?No isn't?You communicate in Malay.Another example is when you are going to eastern countries like Korea,Japan,china and etc....You never speak in English don't you.For people who get JPA scholarship to continue their study at eastern countries,they have to attend for language classes to learn the language of the country thy are heading to.This prove that English is a medium of communication is a nonsense.
Other than the above,some people might claim that English is the language that we use to acquire knowledge.Do you actually agree with that?Well....actually I don't agree with that statement.Is that meaning that we can't acquire knowledge in other language like Malay,Chinese,Japanese and etc....No isn't it.Most of the western people also read articles from eastern countries.They also acquire knowledge in languages other than English.Then people might say that look at Malaysia's education system.Science and Mathematics are taught in English now.This indicates that English is a vital subject.However,is it the teaching of Mathematics and Science are rally conducted in full English?Well...as a student,I think I know better than others.I'm a student taking Biology,Chemistry,Mathematics and English.Among these four subjects,only English is conducted in full English.Other than that,Biology,Chemistry and Mathematics are mostly conducted in half English half Malay.So this again prove that English is only a supplementary subject.
In a nutshell,I still strongly believe that English is just a supplementary subject.

Maths and science in english

What is your opinion about teaching maths and science in English?As a student,I always think that this is the best thing ever happened to me.I like English,so by teaching maths and science in English,I feel more interested in learning both science and maths.By the way,teaching maths and science in English improve my English a lot.
However,some people do not agree with the benefits offered by teaching maths and science in English.Some of them feel that it is troublesome while some of them feel that it is burdening students.As a student,I don't think that this is a burden.For your information,most of the Malaysian actually using broken English.This is because they are seldom exposed to education in English.So by teaching maths and science in English,students have more opportunity to learn English.
Hence,we can conclude that teaching maths and science in English very beneficial as students will have more opportunities to be expose to educations in English.
